At the height of the insurgency in Northern Uganda in the 1990s, an army captain who was a believer got a dream in which the Lord spoke to him that if Christians organised a united front of prayer and travelled to pray in the areas of insurgency, God would intervene and bring the conflict to an end. In response to this instruction, starting in May 1998, fortnightly prayer journeys were organised from Kampala to Gulu and Kitgum in Northern Uganda. By the end of the year the insurgency had greatly subsided and the rebels had retreated into Sudan. We call such efforts strategic prayer missions.
Some of us were involved in this Northern Uganda Spiritual Crusade and we leant valuable lessons in prayer and spiritual warfare. Pastor Laban Jjumba has been involved in many similar strategic prayer missions. One characteristic of such prayer missions is the clear word of instruction by the Holy Spirit to institute the prayer project.
Another example was in 2015 at the height of the threats by terrorists to attack our educational institutions like they had done at a university campus in Kenya. At that time we received an instruction through Zechariah 1:8-11 where angelic riders on horses had been sent to patrol the whole earth. They had given their report that the whole earth was at peace and resting quietly. When we prayed, asking the Lord to send similar angelic riders on horses to patrol our nation in the face of terrorist threats, the Holy Spirit spoke to us that if we patrolled our streets and highways by prayer, the Lord would command His angels to patrol our streets and highways following our route step by step.
This instruction in March/April 2015 started off one of the most exciting prayer missions that we have ever engaged in. Our teams covered the City of Kampala regularly and also travelled and covered the whole country through the course of the rest of the year.
Beeranga Mwesigwa Foundation sponsors such strategic prayer missions both nationally and internationally. Your financial support helps to meet the cost of prayer vans and their maintenance, travel costs and air tickets, prayer journey expenses, etcetera. You can also participate in the prayer missions.
